Custom Orthotics

Prescription shoe inserts made for your feet, to relieve pain and support the way you walk.

What Are Custom Orthotics?

Custom orthotics are prescription shoe inserts made from the exact shape of your feet. Unlike store-bought insoles, they’re designed around your foot structure, the way you walk, and the problem you’re trying to fix.

Custom orthotics can help with:

  • Plantar fasciitis and heel pain
  • Flat feet and high arches
  • Bunions, hammertoes, and pressure points
  • Diabetic foot protection
  • Knee, hip, or back strain linked to how your feet move
  • Sports and overuse injuries

How We Fit Your Orthotics

Getting orthotics at Opensky Podiatry starts with understanding why your feet hurt, not just their size.

Your visit typically includes:

  • A foot exam and a look at how you walk and stand
  • A review of the shoes you wear most
  • A precise mold or scan of your feet
  • A fitting visit to make sure they feel right
  • Follow-up adjustments if anything needs fine-tuning

Frequently Asked Questions

How are custom orthotics different from store-bought insoles?

Store-bought insoles are made for an average foot. Custom orthotics are built from a mold or scan of your own feet and prescribed for your specific condition, so they can correct and support in ways a generic insert can’t.

How long do custom orthotics last?

It depends on the materials, your activity level, and how often you wear them. We check them at follow-up visits and let you know when they need to be refurbished or replaced.

Will custom orthotics fit in my shoes?

We take the shoes you wear most into account. Orthotics can be made for athletic shoes, everyday shoes, and some dress shoes.

Is there a break-in period?

Most people wear them for a few hours a day at first and build up over a week or two. If anything feels uncomfortable, let us know and we’ll adjust them.

Does insurance cover custom orthotics?

Coverage varies by plan. Our team can help you check your benefits before you’re fitted.
